IIT Bombay Launches e-Yantra Robotics Competition, College Students Can Apply Till August 25

Are you a college student who loves robotics and technology? Do you want to learn new skills, showcase your talent, and solve real-world problems using technology? If yes, then you might be interested in participating in the e-Yantra Robotics Competition (eYRC) 2023-24.

eYRC is a unique annual competition hosted by e-Yantra, IIT Bombay, and funded by the Ministry of Education. The competition aims to harness the talent of young engineers to solve problems using technology across a variety of domains such as agriculture, manufacturing, defence, home, smart-city maintenance and service industries.

The competition is open for students of engineering / science / polytechnic schools in India. The participants are given a robotic kit complete with accessories, video tutorials, and expert guidance to help them learn basic concepts in embedded systems and microcontroller programming. The participants have to complete various tasks and challenges using the robotic kit and submit their solutions online. The best teams are invited to IIT Bombay for the final round of the competition, where they have to demonstrate their skills and creativity in front of a panel of judges.

The registration for the eYRC 2023-24 is open till Friday 25th of August 2023, 11:59 PM (IST). The participants can choose from different themes based on their level of expertise and interest. Some of the themes are: Smart City, Smart Agriculture, Smart Home, Smart Factory, Smart Defence, etc. The participants can also avail early bird discounts and scholarships based on their performance and completion of the competition.

According to Prof. Kavi Arya, the principal investigator of e-Yantra, the competition is a great way to introduce students to project-based learning and engineering design. He said, "e-Yantra is a robotics outreach program that aims to create an ecosystem for robotics education and innovation in India. Through eYRC, we want to inspire students to pursue careers in STEM fields and become problem-solvers for society.

The competition also provides students with an opportunity to network with peers, mentors, and industry experts. It also helps them develop leadership skills, teamwork skills, and communication skills. Many past participants have gone on to pursue higher studies or start their own ventures in robotics and related fields.

However, participating in eYRC is not without challenges. The competition requires dedication, hard work, and perseverance from the students. They have to balance their academic commitments with the competition deadlines. They also have to cope with technical difficulties, resource constraints, and changing requirements. They have to constantly learn new things and adapt to new situations.

But despite these challenges, many students find eYRC rewarding and enjoyable. They get to apply their theoretical knowledge to practical problems. They get to experiment with different technologies and tools. They get to express their creativity and innovation. They get to experience the thrill of competition and the joy of achievement.

If you are interested in joining eYRC 2023-24, you can register your team at [the official website of e-Yantra].
